Designing a bespoke digital experience around a wedding
Rather than approaching my sister's wedding website as a conventional information page, I wanted it to feel like an extension of the wedding itself.
The project developed into a highly bespoke digital experience combining editorial design, photography, interaction and storytelling while still performing the practical role of communicating everything guests needed to know.

Creative Direction
The visual direction is intentionally cinematic and editorial rather than resembling a traditional wedding template.
Photography forms much of the interface itself, with typography, compositing and subtle motion used to turn otherwise functional pages into individual experiences.
It also involved significant Photoshop work, including image compositing, lighting, colour treatment and creating imagery specifically around the website layouts.
Designing the Experience
The site was structured around the guest journey, including the couple's story, the wedding day, timings, location, accommodation and transport, dress code, gifts and RSVP.
Rather than presenting these as a conventional navigation system, I experimented with interactive environments, custom transitions, pinned navigation, animated elements and visual storytelling to make exploring the information part of the experience.
Building It
The project became an extensive exercise in Wix Studio and custom frontend interaction.
I built the site as a largely single-scroll experience, using movement and interaction to guide guests through the content rather than relying on a conventional page structure. Different sections were designed to feel like entering separate spaces, with interactive elements leading users into virtual “rooms” containing information around the day, dress code, travel, timings and other details.
I developed bespoke navigation behaviour, scroll-triggered interactions, page transitions, animated overlays, responsive layouts and custom JavaScript logic while continually refining the experience across different screen sizes.
The build involved balancing visual ambition with usability, making sure the interactions felt immersive without making the site too difficult to navigate. Much of the experience was constructed around bespoke assets and compositions, so the development process involved constantly adapting the technical structure to support the creative direction rather than designing around standard templates.
Reflection
This has been one of my most technically detailed web projects because virtually every element has been considered specifically for the experience rather than selected from a template.
It has strengthened both my visual design and technical problem-solving, particularly where an idea couldn't be achieved through the builder alone and required experimentation with custom code.
